We encourage the active participation of residents and families while educating the resident and family about the rehabilitation process, management of any underlying health issues, preparing for discharge, and prevention of future illness or injury. The individual's goals are reviewed regularly with the participation of the resident and the team. The aim of the rehabilitation team is for the resident to become as independent as possible despite his or her disability and to teach methods to cope with the ongoing disability.
