Halcyon Rehab is focused on providing quality skilled interventions designed to meet each resident's needs as well as ensuring Medicare compliance with documentation. A system of accountability is implemented through multi-level auditing followed by employee education provided by a Clinical Services Team. Documentation and compliance is addressed through both comprehensive on-site and remote audits performed by various members of the management and clinical teams. Our pro-active approach to documentation compliance leads to success with denial management and professional and billing compliance.
We have built an internal auditing process that ensures employee compliance with the clinical guidelines set forth by the company, federal guidelines, and state/local practice acts. The team of auditors utilize an in-depth Skilled Nursing Facility Remote Compliance Audit Tool for therapy medical record review and auditing. Our auditors reference and utilize remote audit tool item descriptors to audit individual documentation items including Technical Accuracy, Medical Necessity and Clinical Supervision. Item descriptors and inclusion criteria ensure auditing standardization and consistency. Halcyon Auditors schedule a review call with all facility rehab team members to review and discuss audit findings, as well as provide specific education and training on identified clinical and compliance areas in need of improvement. Based on audit results and findings, the Regional Director, Director of Rehab and Auditor partner to develop an Action Plan to address clinical documentation areas in need of improvement.
